Genesis 6 ~ Man is Becoming Very Wicked
I wonder if I will ever understand all that I read in God's word? In the past, when I would decide to have a home Bible study I would either 1) be looking for something in specific or 2) pray that God would show me the passage He had for me. Now that I am partaking in this specific challenge I am reading from cover to cover and though I have read and pondered and pondered some more on specific chapters, they are still puzzling to me. This is one of the ones that has a somewhat mystical appeal, leading me to wonder what actually took place just outside Eden long, long ago...
In this chapter man became increasingly wicked partaking of shameful sins. The sons of heaven were visiting the women of earth and bearing children with them. The sins were so grievous to God that He "regretted that He made man on the earth, and His heart was grieved." verse 6. In verse 3 we are told that God decided to limit our lives to 120 years because of all the mischief we were getting involved in and it is in verse 13 that God begins to speak to Noah about preparing an ark to "cleanse" the earth of the corruption. ~ The New American Bible
Thank you so much for your visit today. Take care and God bless you and the readings of His word.

Genesis 5 ~ Age is only a Number
Forgive me, I am confused, while reading chapter 5:3 I find that Adam was one hundred and 30 years old he had a son named Seth who was in his own image. So previously when we learned of Cain and Abel were they not in his own image? What is the distinction here? There is a lot of history mentioned in this chapter and an amazing lot of people who began families when we would be retiring or retired and sitting home enjoying visits with our great grandchildren.
I was 20 when I had my first, my mom 16 when she had me. My two questions are:
1. What do you think the perfect childbearing age is?
2. What do you consider as too old to have a child? I was 35 when I had my latest, and my oldest daughter just recently had another at 39. BTW baby Faith is gaining about an ounce a day and now weighs 2 lb 5 oz.
For interesting topics and conversation starters how about dropping in on Amanda at Thursday Two Questions? You are sure to find something of interest there!

Genesis 4 ~ Cain Killed Abel
My sister and I had our share of squabbles but they were nothing like this one. In the New American Bible version chapter 4 of Genesis verses 6 - 7
So the Lord said to Cain "Why are you so crestfallen? 7. If you do well, you can hold up your head; but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door; his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master."If you read further you will find that Cain succumbed to the evil thoughts stirred by his feelings of jealousy and what the results were.
Thanks so much for your visit. Tomorrow we will read Genesis 5. Thanks and God bless.

Genesis 3 ~ Adam and Eve Sinned

We are only in the third chapter of the book and life has truly made some remarkable twists:
We are only in the third chapter of the book and life has truly made some remarkable twists:
The serpent spoke to Eve and beguiled her into believing that the tree of life was not truly dangerous to eat from but was desirable. He cunningly told her that this fruit would make her like a god and that the fruit was pleasing to the eye and delicious to eat. She ate, and presented Adam with fruit too and their eyes were opened to their nakedness and they became ashamed so they fashioned clothes for themselves. When they heard God walking in the garden they hid to cover themselves from His view. God knew immediately when they spoke of their shame in being unclothed. Had it not been for them having partaken of the fruit of this tree they would have had no knowledge of good and evil and never felt shame for their state of dress. Life forever changed for them and for us that day.
This chapter, just like the previous two was packed with action. I am only covering a small portion. Read it yourself and find out! :-) Thanks so much for visiting me today. Take care and God bless!

Genesis 2 ~ God Created Man and Woman
I was awakened from my bed while it was still dark
Too early I thought, for my day to start...
But get up, I did and dressed to go.
My energy levels were really low.
Stifling a yawn and wearing a smile
Grumbling about it is not my style
Pulled into the lot to park my car
When I saw the sunrise from afar
What words could I say?
God said them so well
He started the day
With me under His spell.

This is day two and I am home now after listening to an inspiring message delivered by our minister. If you would like to listen to it, his sermons are posted on his website. Even though chapter 1 showed God creating the earth, sky, waters and vegetation within 6 days we noted that he stopped and paused on the 7th day. He blessed this day and made it holy. Then God formed man out of the clay of the earth and breathed life into him. He later placed him into a deep sleep and created woman from man to make them (man and woman) of one flesh and one bone. Animals and all living creatures were made by God and named by man. Then God instructed Adam regarding the eating of the fruits on the trees advising him that he could of all but one. Eating of that one particular tree would cause death...

Genesis 1 ~ Creation Begins
Our minister, Jeremy is a very scriptural minister in that all his sermons are based on God's word. I always take my Bible and a notebook taking down the verses he uses then making my own notes, but seldom do I open this notebook throughout the week. My days overflow running one into another and it is time that I pause and give God more of that time I keep running through like sifting sands. Jeremy's challenge is for each of us to read one chapter daily and to keep a notebook on our findings, writing at least one sentence daily so we can look at this later and will have our concise summation of God's word. I hope you will feel free to join me, or if you do not join me, perhaps help to hold me accountable so that I do not fall away from my commitment.
The first book of Genesis, as you probably well know, is about God creating the earth. He created the earth, sky, waters, animals and vegetation in six days. He saw what He had created and declared it as good.
This post linked to Shadow Shot Sunday. As long as we walk in the light, we will live in His shadow and there is no better place to be. Thanks so much for visiting me today. Take care and God bless!
