Moses' brother, Aaron's sons were priests. This was the most elevated position of the day and because of this the standards of purity were at the highest. The Lord spent much time instructing Moses on the conduct He required. He touched upon cleanliness of body and behavior. They were not allowed to handle the dead as was required for preparation of burial, nor were they allowed to marry a woman who had not kept her honor. A priest maintains a high position; one that is sacred because God is sacred.
