Genesis 26 - Like Father Like Son

Did Isaac know that his father traveled with his mother claiming her as his sister as he feared that a man would happen upon them and kill him to take her as bride? (Both his mother and his wife were women with exceeding beauty.) The Bible does not say, but Isaac had to travel with Rebekah from his home as there was a famine. While they traveled, he would tell anyone who asked that they were brother and sister and who do they come across, but King Abimelech? Remember how upset he was at Abraham for this same trick? He was not happy with Isaac for pulling the stunt either. When Abimelech witnessed the closeness of the two he questioned Isaac and Isaac confessed. Then the king commanded all to not harm either of them fearing that God would wreak havoc upon his country again.

The Lord promised to bless him and he did even though Isaac had many problems with wells. He would find that they had been filled with dirt time and time again. He finally was able to find water in one, the same day that he made peace with his enemies.

His son Esau married at the age of 40.

Thank you so much for visiting me today. May God richly bless you and the reading of His word.
