Genesis 39 ~ Joseph lands in jail

Joseph became Potiphar's personal attendant shortly after arriving in Egypt, as it quickly became apparent that everything that Joseph did was blessed by God. Potiphar trusted him implicitly and he became quite favored, even by Potiphar's wife. She became so attracted to him that she would approach him constantly trying to entice him but he would continually advise her that Potiphar  trusted him with all that was his and he was allowed anything that he wanted but her. How could he do something so wrong?

One day when no one was arround, she became uncontrollable reaching out for him, and he quickly ran from the house leaving his cloak still in her hands where it stayed after she had tried to draw him to her. Perhaps angry over his rejection, she screamed out as if under attack. She told all that would listen that Joseph had tried to rape her. Once Potiphar returned home, she also told him her made up story. Because of her lies (which all believed)  Potiphar was outraged and had Joseph thrown into jail.

Once there, Joseph soon won the favor of his jailers and was placed in charge of everyone there.

Thank you so much for visiting me today. May God richly bless you and the reading of His word.
