Jacob looks up and sees his brother accompanied by about 400 men. Quickly he repositions his family placing the servants and their families in the front, Leah and her children next then Rachel and Joseph last. He walked on ahead bowing as he went. His family and servants also bowed low. Jacob bowed continually until he reached his brother and his brother ran to greet him hugging, kissing him and weeping. Then Esau looked around and asked who the people were. Jacob responded that this was the family that God so graciously bestowed upon him. Then Esau asked why was the cattle given to him and Jacob answered that he had plenty and wanted to earn his brother's favor. Esau advised him that he had plenty already and Jacob could keep his herds, but Jacob insisted tellin his brother that entering his presence was like entering the presence of God as his brother was so gracious to receive him thus after the wrong he had done.
Esau offered to travel with him, but Jacob stated he prefered to travel slowly for the sake of the children and cattle. Later he arrived at Shechem and purchased land from Hamor and pitched his tent.
