Genesis 36 lists Esau's descendants then advises that both Jacob (Israel) and Esau lived in Canaan but both were so wealthy that the land there could not support both of them so Esau took all his possessions and he and his family traveled to Seir. Along with a list of Esau's descendants we also find a succession of kings listed in this chapter. Esau was the father of the Edomites.
